This sculpture of Jesus being taken down from the cross is one of the most emotional of its kind. John is shown carefully walking Christ’s limp body down a ladder from the cross. Mary Magdalene looks away as she tries to deal with the overwhelming sorrow and loss. Mother Mary gently cradles her Son’s leg with an expression of sorrowful acceptance and understanding.
