Materials: BRONZE
|
Throughout history the most durable and timeless material for casting the fine art of sculpture has been bronze. Bronze sculptures can be the most intricate and delicate of form, yet retain the greatest strength. Bronze is both suitable for indoor and outdoor placement. Timothy’s sculptures are cast in bronze using the lost wax method, a process that has remained virtually unchanged for the last 2000 yrs.

After a sculpture is cast in bronze metal, it looks very much like shiney gold or brass. Raw bronze sculptures require that a patina be applied to their surface in order to give
them the desired color. In the patina process bronze is heated with a torch and the patina chemical is applied directly to the surface of the metal creating a chemical reaction that results in different colors, the most common of which is called “French brown”. French brown is a natural patina that will green and darken with age and will also withstand the outdoor elements indefinitely. The greening of a bronze sculpture with the “French Brown” patina can be prevented by cleaning and waxing the sculpture on a semi-annual basis. Click here for bronze maintenance information.
