Holistic Environments

When given an entire interior or exterior environment as his canvas, Timothy has the ability to weave together the art with its surrounding architecture or landscape creating wonderful spaces of design and continuity.  Like the past masters, Timothy has a gift for creating holistic environments of art that are timeless and inspirational, where the sculptures complement and relate to one another and beautify the entire environment.

Timothy can be consulted regarding holistic environments of art during the planning phase of a project prior to construction.  This allows the artist and the church enough time to have the sculptures created and installed before the day of dedication.

Often fine art is not included in the initial construction budget.  In this case both the building and landscaping may be finished before the church considers the artwork.  This time also allows the church to seriously consider the subject matter, themes and number of sculptures they desire within their finished worship space or landscaped gardens.  This allows the artist the benefit of visiting the site in person and of gaining a comprehensive three dimensional understanding of the architecture and landscape design.

The idea of having all of the sculptures created by one artist is not an original philosophy but rather dates back to the early 15th century.  One could compare this philosophy to the art of stained glass.  It is easy to understand how unreasonable it would be to have four or five different stained glass artists create the windows in a single church.  The sculpture in a Church demands the same respect, as it plays an equal - if not more powerful - role in the unity and harmony of the worship space.

This holistic approach is beneficial to both the artist and the Church.  The Church gives the artist the opportunity to showcase to the world what can be accomplished when an environment is united through art.  The artist gives the Church the opportunity to receive a package price on the entire project that is very favorable given the actual value of the individual works of art.  A project such as this can also be broken up into phases and accomplished over time to ease the financial burden on the Church.
